Certification Process

The Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (ChicagoMSDC) is a premier organization for increasing business opportunities between major buying organizations and minority-owned businesses.

Applying for MBE Certification at Chicago MSDC, consists of the steps below. The Certification process can take up to 90 days.

Complete the online Certification application. Certification starts with the online application. You may take as long as necessary to complete the application. Your information will be saved for your next session and is completely confidential.

Pay the application fee. You may pay by credit card or send a check. The processing of your application will begin when payment is received.

Send required documentation. ChicagoMSDC requires specific documents to complete the Certification process.  For fastest processing, please upload electronic files with the application. Mailed documentation will delay application review.

Application and documents are reviewed for completeness.

Site Visit. ChicagoMSDC will perform a site visit to review your business premises and conduct a personal interview of the owner(s). This step is performed by a Certification Specialist and the applicant.

Committee Review. The Certification Committee meets regularly to review applications for MBE Certification. The Certification Committee must approve the application before it can be submitted to the Board for final approval.

Board Review. The Board will review the Certification Committee's recommendation and make the final decision. If the Board rejects the application, you may submit a letter of appeal. If approved, you will be notified by e-mail and postal mail.

-------------- PAPERLESS APPLICATION POLICY ------------

Chicago Minority Supplier Development Council is looking for ways to make your MBE application and re-certification more convenient and eco-friendly.  As of May 1st 2019 ChicagoMSDC no longer accepts applications on paper without an administrative service fee. Submitting your application online is a fast and convenient way to apply and receive your certificate.  It also helps the Council make progress in “going green” with more eco-friendly policies.

MBEs will still receive the alerts 90, 60 and 30 days prior expiration. If you are not a registered user, do not worry.  It only takes a couple of seconds to register. Please click HERE to register now. Once you have done that, please send email to lking@chicagomsdc.org to secure your username with your MBE profile.

Please be advised that if you still would like to apply with the paper application a $500 administration fee will be added.
